Fresh Meadows

Take ¼ cup each of jasmine, petunia, and rose petals. Into this, add ½ cup of shredded lime leaves, dried orange and lemon peels. Add 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil. Mix all the ingredients well and store in a tightly covered jar.

Spicy Cinnamon

Take ½ cup of cedar or juniper wood shavings. Add a handful of cloves and cinnamon and mix well. Add dried lime peel and a drop of lavender essential oil. Store in a tightly covered jar.

Craft Kit
Another good gift for girlfriend, would be a handy craft kit. You can make it by buying a transparent medium-sized plastic box with dividers. Decorate it with acrylic paints and small beads. You can also stick labels on the different compartments in the craft kit. Before gifting it to your girlfriend, just fill it up with ribbons, threads, beads, etc.

Gift in a Jar
If you're good at making delicious foods, why not try your hand at some chutney and dip recipes and gift them to your husband or boyfriend. You can fill these dips or chutneys into small, transparent cookie jars and decorate them with a beautiful ribbon around the lid. Alternatively, you can also fill the jars with mini cookies and savories. You can try presenting him these delectable cucumber dip and tomato dip recipes.

Cucumber Dip Recipe

Ingredients
  • Greek yogurt, 2 cups
  • Small cucumber, 1 (diced)
  • Ffresh coriander or mint leaves, ¼ cup
  • Small shallot, 1 (finely diced)
  • Garlic, 1 clove (minced)
  • Green chili (optional), 1 (finely chopped)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Method

In a bowl, beat the yogurt until smooth. Add the diced cucumber and shallots into this. Now, add minced garlic and coriander or mint, and mix well. Then, add salt, pepper, and green chilies, according to your taste. Garnish with a sprig of mint. Chill well, before serving.

Tomato Chutney Recipe

Ingredients
  • Ripe tomatoes, 2 kg. (diced)
  • Large onions, 2 (finely sliced)
  • Sugar, ½ cup
  • Vegetable oil, 2 tbsp.
  • Fenugreek seeds, ½ tsp.
  • Salt to taste
Method

In a small pan, heat vegetable oil. Add fenugreek seeds and then add the finely sliced onions in the pan. Now, add the diced tomatoes and stir until oil is separated. Add salt to taste and stir continuously for 15 minutes. Now, add the sugar. Once the sugar has been dissolved and the mixture is thick in consistency, remove it from flame.

Scented Candles
Everybody loves scented candles. But, there is no need to buy them from the store, as one can easily make them at home. The following materials required for making scented candles.
  • Paraffin wax
  • Wick
  • Liquid color dye
  • Essential oil for fragrance
  • Wax mold
Place the wax in a heavy bottomed pan and slowly heat it, until the wax melts. Once the wax has melted, add color. Then add a few drops of essential oil of your choice. Now, place the wick carefully at the bottom of the mold and pour the melted wax. Allow the wax to cool down. After some time, dip the mold in hot water and the candle will slip out.

With our hectic lifestyle, sometimes, we are hard-pressed to find time for the significant other in our life.
